Kashyyykian Cities
Wookiees typically build their cities high up in the Wroshyr trees where it is safest. Often they will coax the branches to grow together, providing a foundation for platform constuction. Other buildings are build around the trunks of the great trees. In addition, Wookiees take advantage of natural Wroshyr caves formed when crevices open in a Wroshyr's trunk.
Ground cities are relatively rare. Many forest Wookiees consider ground dwellers to be a bit insane. However, because ground cities are more accessible to aliens, these areas have had more contact with other cultures and have typically served as trade centers.
An unfortunate consequence of the Imperial blockade and the Empire's attempts to control Kashyyyk has been a large influx of alien settlers in the areas of the ground cities. They are also favored by slavers. As a consequence, many former ground-dwelling Wookiees have fled into the deep forest to find safety.
Another consequence of the slavery problem is increased urbanization and abandonment of smaller traditional villages. Many Wookiees feel safer in the large population centers, as the slavers do not dare conduct raids there.
